(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 486, & 487 Elijah Bowen To William Alberson Deed for 100 acres lands This indenture made this sixth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight. Between Elijah Bowen of the Province of No. Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part & William Alberson of the same Province & County aforesaid of the other part witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds specie money to me in hand paid by William Alberson befor the ensealing & delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I acknowledge myself to be satisfied & paid every part and parcel thereof, therefore have given granted bargained sold & conveyed & by these presents do fully and freely absolutely assign convey & confirm unto William Alberson or his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever one certain tract of parcel of land sittuate lying & being in the County of Duplin o the waters of the No. East River. Between the great Branch and Matthews Branch on Poley Bridge branch. Begining at a red oak runs No. 100 poles to a Lightwood Stump thence Et. 160 poles to a stake on a meadow, thence So. 100 poles crossing of the Cart path to a black jack, thence to the begining, containing of one hundred acres taken up by me Elijah Bowen. To have & to hold to the said William Alberson his heirs & executors admns. & assigns together with all advantages woods ways waters & water courses & as for my part the aforesaid Elijah Bowen my heirs executors & admns. & assigns doth hereby covenant promise & engage unto the said William Alberson his heirs administrators & assigns that they sahll peacebly & quietly hold use occupie & enjoy the aforesaid land & premises with all the appurtenances & previledges to the same belonging free & clear of all incumbrances whatsoever, & as for me the aforesaid Elijah Bowen my heirs executors administrators and assigns, will froever warrant and defend the aforesaid land and premises as aforesaid to William Alberson his heirs executors administrators and assigns, against the lawfull claim or claims of any person or person whatsoever. In witness whereof I have set my hand & fixed my seal the date & year first above written. Elijah Bowen Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us Isaac Hines Wm. O'Daniel Samuel Alberson State of No. Carolina Duplin County January Termk 1788. Then was the within deed proved by the oath of Samuel Alberson & ordered to be registered. Test W. Dickson, C. C.
