Eleazer Rogers To Moses Sholders
Deed for 150 acres lands
This indenture made this fifth day of October in one thousand seven hundred &
eighty seven Between Eleazer Rogers of Duplin County of the one part & Moses Sholders
of the other part, of the said County of Duplin & province of No. Carolina send greetings.
Know ye that I the said Eleazer Rogers for and in consideration of forty pounds specie
to me in hand paid before the ensealing & delivering hereof unto to Moses Sholders of
the said County & State aforesaid have bargained sole & conveyed enfeoffed & assigned
& set over unto Moses Sholders a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred
& fifty acres lying & being in our County of Duplin in our State of North Carolina, on
the east side of the North East River & on the richland branch that makes into Holly
Shelter pocoson. Begining at a pine and runs South 150 poles crossing the said Branch
to a red oak near the pocoson, thence Et. 160 poles to a gum in a small branch, thence
No. 150 poles to a stake in the Cedar pond thence to the begining. To have and to hold
the said land & premises with all its improvements to him the said Moses Sholders his
heirs and assigns forever, & that the said Eleazer Rogers at the ensealing & delivering
of these presents hath a good right & lawfull authority to bargain & sell the same in
manner as above said, tothe said Moses Sholders his heirs & assigns forever, the said
Eleazer Rogers for himself his heirs executors administrators doth further promise &
warrant that the said land and premises is free and clear from lawfull claim challing
dowery or demands of any person whatsoever & the same will warrant secure and defend
unto the said Moses Sholders his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal the date above written.
