(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 510, 511, & 512 Edward Dickson To John Johnston Deed for 100 acres lands This indenture made the fifteenth day of February in the sixth year of American Independence and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty two. Between Edward Dickson of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part & John Johnston of the same place of the other part witnesseth the said Edward Dickson for and in consideration of the sum of sixty pounds specie to him in hand well and truly paid or secured to be paid by John Johnston aforesaid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath by these presents given granted bargained sold assigned & set over to the said John Johnston his heirs & assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in the State & County aforesaid on the west side of Stewarts Creek by Benjamin Johnston's land. Begining at a red oak by said Stewarts Creek Swamp, thence runing No. 24 Wt. 31 chain 64 links to a pine, thence So. 66 Wt. 31 chain 64 links to a pine thence So. 24 Et. 31 chain 64 links to a white oak, thence to the begining containing in the whole one hundred acres be the same more or less, being the contents of a patent granted to Thomas Johnston the fifth day of November one thousand seven hundred sixty one & afterwards conveyed by deed from said Thomas Johnston to Micajah Brumley & afterwards conveyed by deed from the said Micajah Brumley to Edward Dickson aforesaid, reference being had to the registers office of the said County may more fully & at large appear. To have and to hold the said bargained land and premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining of every nature or kind whatever to him the said John Johnston his heirs and assigns forever, free from all former gifts grants mortgages intails dowers jointures executions entents or troubles of every nature or kind whatever, & the said Edward Dickson the aforesaid land & premises shall and will warrant & forever defend to him the said John Johnston his heirs & assigns forever from and against him the said Edward Dickson his heirs and assigns, as also from & against the just & lawfull claim of every other person or person whatever who may hereafter lay any lawfull claim to the same & the said John Johnston the aforesaid land and premises shall and may have hold use occupy enjoy and possess as his own free & lawfull inheritance free from all incumbrances whatever given grante or done by him the said Edward Dickson or any other person or persons by from or under him or any of them. In witness whereof the said Edward Dickson hath hereunto set his hand and seal the date above written. Edward Dickson Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us Joseph Dickson David Jones junr.
