(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 226, 227, & 228 Edward Dickson To James Dickson Deed for 200 acres lands This indenture made this tenth day of August in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred & eighty five, between Edward Dickson of the State of No. Carolina & County of Duplin of the one part, & James Dickson of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth, that the said Edward Dickson for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds current money of the State of North Carolina to him in hand paid by James Dickson aforesaid before the ensealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof he the said Edward Dickson doth hereby acknowledge, himself to be therewith fully satisfied contented and paid, hath be these presents given granted bargained sold alined enfeoffed conveyed & confirmed & by these presents doth fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell & convey to James Dickson aforesaid his heirs & assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on Maxwell swamp, including the beaverdam and some Islands called Folley Islands. Begining at a water oak & two pines by the side of a branch called Middle Branch & runs thence No. 35 Et. 127 pole to a pine, thence crossing the swamp So. 55 Wt. 127 poles to a pine, thence So. 35 Et. 127 poles thence to the begining, containing one hundred acres in the whole be the same more or less, one other tract of land joining the last mentioned containing one hundred acres and bounded as follows. Begining at a poplar on the run of Folley on Morgan Sweeny's line thence as the same So. 25 Et. 104 poles to a pine on the edge of Middle branch, thence up the branch with William Rigbee's line No. 60 Et. 116 pole to a pine, thence along Richard Williams line No. 20 Wt. 194 poles to an ashe at the run of Folley about 150 yards above the mouth of Wolf Pitt Branch, thence as the run with Joseph Dickson's line to the begining, which said last mentioned tract of land was granted to Edward Dickson aforesaid, paten bearing date the tenth day of November Anno Domini 1784. To have and to hold the said two tract of land & premises & every part & parcel thereof, with all and every the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said James Dickson his heirs and assigns forever, fre and clear of all manner of rights titles claims & demands of all and all manner of persons to the only proper use and behoofe of him the said James Dickson his heirs & assigns forever, & the said Edward Dickson for himself and his heirs doth covenant promise and agree to warrent & defend forever, the above mentioned premises & every part thereof to the said James Dickson his heirs & assigns against all and all manner of person whatsoever. In witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hands and fixed his seal the day and year first above written. Edward Dickson Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of us William Frederick William Southerland State of North Carolina Duplin County January Court 1786.
