Ebenezer Garrison To Bird Lanier
Bill Sale
Know all men by these presents that I Ebenezer Garison of the County of Duplin and State
of North Carolina farmer for and In Consideration of the sum of forty pounds specie to me
in hand paid by Bird Lanier of the County of Duplin nad province aforesaid the Receipt
whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself to be there with Fully satisifed contented and
paid have Bargained sold and Delivered In plain and open Market and by these presents do
bargain sell and Deliver untot he said Bird Lanier a Negroe Boy about Eight years old called
or known byt he name of frank of which siad Negroe the said Ebenezer Garison at the time of
making these presents am the heive sole and Lawful owner and have good and Lawfull authority
to sell and Dispose of the same to have and to hold the said Negroe above named unto the said
Bird Lanier his heirs and assigns forever and I the said Ebenezer Garison Do by these presents
covenant and grant for my self my heirs Executors and administrators to and with the said Bird
Lanier his heirs Executors administrators and assigns In manner following that is to say that
I the said Ebenezer Garison my heirs Executors and Administrators shall and will at all times
warrent and forever Defend the above said negroe boy unto the said Bird Lanier his heirs
Executors administrators and assigns against the Lawfull cliam of demand of any person or
persons whatever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this
eight day of December 1789.

Then was the within Bill of Sale proved in open Court by the oath of Bejamin Lanier and ordered
to be Registered.
