(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 12 Page 50, 51, 52, & 53 William Newton State of North Carolina Duplin County Report of Division of Lands between his Heirs In obedience to an order of the County Court of Please - Quarter Sessions to us John S Hill Esqr Buckner L Hill Joseph T. Rhodes John F Rhodes and Patrick Frederick directed to divide the of William Newton Decd between Allen P. Hightower and Wife Maryan and William W. Newton John S Hill Ezqr Buckner L. Hill, John F Rhodes - and Patrick Frederick being present and sworn did proceed to divide the said Land in manner for Following To wit Lot No 1st was drawn by A P Hightower and Wife Maryann containing one hundred and seventy four acres which you can see laid down in the aforesaid plan Hightower and Wife &c Lot No 2 was drawn by William W. Newton containing one hundred and seventy acres which you can see laid down in the before described Planan William W. Newton which William W Newton is to pary over unto A P Hightower and Wife Maryann the sum of one hundred and Twenty five Dollars for the purpose of making an equal distribution all of which is submitted in witness whereof the said John S Hill Esqr Buckner L Hill John F Rhodes and Patrick Frederick have hereunto set their hands and seals January 15th day 1839 John S Hill Buckner L Hill John F Rhodes Patrick Frederick Joseph T. Rhodes The above plans represents the Land divided between the Heirs of William Newton Decd bounded as follows (To wit) Lot No 1 to Maryann Hightower Begining at a poplar John S Hills corner in the Spring Branch and runs along Hills line so 35 wt 58 poles to a persimmon stump thence along his other line so 46 Et 197 poles to a stake his other corner thence so 25 wt 35 poles to a pine thence so 65 wt 20 poles to a pine thence No 80 wt 38 poles to a sweet gum on David Newtons line thence along his line No 22 Et 50 poles to a stake by the Road his corner thence along the Road as Newtons line No 60 wt 100 poles to a pine on the south side of the Road at the corner of Newtons fence thence No 21 wt 55 poles to a stake in the Run of a small branch where the Avenue formerly possed thence down the Run of the Branch as it meanders to a Black gum at the mouth of said Branch on the Run of the Great Branch thence down the Run of the Great Branch as it meanders to a Sweet Gum at its mouth on the Run of Bear Swamp as it meanders to White oak by the old ford at the mouth of the Spring Branch John S Hills corner thence up the Run of the Spring branch as it meanders to the Begining Lot No 2 to William W Newton Begining at a poplar and black gum on the Run of a small Branch David Newtons corner and runs along his line No 22 Et 30 poles to a sweet gum thence so 80 Et 38 poles to a pine thence No 65 Et 20 poles to a pine thence No 25 Et 19 poles to a pine John S Hills corner thence as his line East 90 poles to a pine his other corner thence So 65 Et 170 poles to a lightwood stump on a Branch of Gallo Brices Patrick Fredericks corner thence as Fredericks line So 78 wt 22 poles to a small bay his other corner thence No 81 wt 34 poles to a water oak at the Edge of a small Branch thence down the Run of said Branch as it meanders to a black gum at the mouth of said Branch on the Run of the Great Branch thence down the Run of the Great Branch as it meanders to a black gum and white oak at the mouth of the dividing Branch thence up the Run of the dividing Branch as it meanders to the begining Decr 20th day 1838 D Jones Survr State of North Carolina Duplin County Court of please and Quarter Sessions January term 1839 The within report Is Returned confirmed and ordered to be registered Copy N Routledge Rgr Test James Dickson Clk
