(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 12 Page 53 D Hooks To A Kornegay Jr Deed for Lot No 5 in Kenansville Recorded July 1839 State of North Carolina Duplin County Know all men by these presents that I David Hooks of the County and State aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum four Hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt of which I hereby acknowledge have made over bargained and sold and by these presents do make over bargain & sell unto Abraham Kornegay Jr all my right title and interest to a certain Lot lying in the Town of Kenansville known as lot No 5 in the south east quarter of said Town begining on cross Streets and runing with said Street So 75 East 105 feet thence so 15 west 75 feet thence No 75 west 105 feet thence North 15 East 75 feet to the first station for him the said Kornegay to have and to hold with the appurtenances thereunto Belonging to his use and to his heirs forever the Right and title of said Lot I do hereby warrant and forever defend to said Kornegay and his Heirs against the lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever given under my hand and seal Kenansville Decr 5th 1834 D Hooks in presence of O L Kelly Wm J Price State of North Carolina Duplin County Court of pleas and Quarter Sessions July term 1839 the Execution of the within deed is duly proved in open Court by the oath of William J Price one of the subscribing witnesses thereto & is ordered to be Registered Copy N Routledge Rgr Test James Dickson Clk
