DEED TO CHARLES BOSTICK

This indenture made this 25th day of October in the year of our Lord, One
Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy eight(1778), and in the 15th of our sovereign
lord George the Third, by the grace of God, Great Britain, France, and England's
King, defender of the faith & between HENRY ALLEN of the County of Duplin and
Province of North Carolina of the one part, and CHARLES BOSTICK of the same
Province and County of Onnslow(Onslow) of the other part, witnesseth that the
said HENRY ALLEN, for divers good causes and considerations him thereunto making,
but more especially for and in consideration of fifty pounds proclamation money
to him in hand paid or secured to bestow before the ensealing and delivery
himself the amount whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, and himself therewith to
be fully satisfied and content thereof and therefore doth hereby acquit and
discharge to the aforesaid CHARLES BOSTICK, his heirs, his Executor or
Administrator or his assigns. Hath bargained, sold, enfeoffed, conveyed, and
conferred and by these presents for himself, his heirs, Executors or
Administrators, hath and doth fully firmly and absolutely bargain, sell, enfeoff,
convey, and forever confer unto said CHARLES BOSTICK, his heirs and assigns
ONE CERTAIN TRACT OR PARCEL OF LAND containing ONE HUNDRED ACRES in the sum more
or less. Situate, lying being in the aforesaid Province and County on the South
side of Muddy Creek, it being a branch of the Northeast of the Cape Fear River.
Thus beginning at a pine tree on JOHN BROWN'S line, thence North 25 degrees East
to a pine, thence South 60 degrees West along the main run of the swamp, thence
as the various courses of the main run down the line to the first Walnut, it
being part of a survey of 131 acres granted to ZEBULON HOLLINGSWORTH by his
excellency ARTHUR DOBBS, Esq., acquired by patent bearing the date Dec 23, 1768.
And by direction of the patent may more fully appear to have and to hold the one
hundred acres of land, premises, and appurtenances unto the said CHARLES BOSTICK,
his heirs and assigns forever in full and simple manner to all intents and
purposes as to the said Mr. Allen did, might, or could have held the same before
the making of the final act. The said HENRY ALLEN doth hereby promise, engage
for himself, his heirs, executor, administrator that at the time of the sealing
and delivery final, he, the said HENRY ALLEN is owner of the lands and premises
of an indefeasible estate of inheritance in fee simple and hath good rightful
power and careful authority to grant, bargain, sell, and convey and forever
confirm the said land, premises with appurtenances, unto the said CHARLES BOSTIC,
his heirs and assigns and that from time to time and at all times forever
hereafter be the said CHARLES BOSTICK'S, his heirs and assigns by power and
value of these presents may and shall enter into, have, hold, use, occupy,
possess, and enjoy the aforesaid One Hundred Acres of land free and clear and
firmly discharged, acquitted, saved, kept harmless and indemnified of and from
all former or other gifts, grants, bargains, sales, enfeoffment, entails, wills,
grantors, dowers, executions, patents, and encumbrances whatsoever. The quit
rent which is due and hereinafter become due annually for the sum only excepted.
Moreover, the said HENRY ALLEN doth for himself, his heirs, Executors or
Administrator warrant to defend the title of the said One Hundred Acres of land
promised to him the said CHARLES BOSTICK, his heirs and assigns proved free from
the families' claims of him the said HENRY ALLEN, his heirs, executors,
administrators, or any other person or persons whatsoever and the said HENRY
ALLEN doth covenant and agree for himself, his heirs, Executors, Administrator
and assigns that at any time hereafter at the reasonable request of him and the
said CHARLES BOSTICK, his heirs or assigns and him of their least, and changes
in the law, the said HENRY ALLEN, his Executor or Administrator, should and will
make or cause to be made and duly executed any further or other deed or
instrument of writing for the same marking or sale of the said land and premises
to him the said CHARLES BOSTICK, his executors or assigns forever as he or they
as heirs, their Councils, learned in the law, shall advise or devise as
required.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I the said HENRY ALLEN hath set his hand and seal the day
and year first above written.

proved in open court by the aforesaid William Southerland's oath, one of
the subscribing witnesses thereunto, and ordered to be recorded.
