(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 12 Page 87, 88, & 89 David Murphy To John Bryan Deed for 230 acres land This Indenture made this eleventh day of December in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundreed and thirty Eight between David Murphy of the State of North Carolina and County of Duplin of the one part and John Bryand of the same State and County of Sampson of the other part witnesseth that the said David Murphy for and inconsideration of the sum of Nine hundred Dollars to him in hand paid or secured to be paid by the said John Bryan the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained sold conveyed made over and confirmed and by these presents do give grant bargain sell convey make over and confirm unto him the said John Bryan his Heirs & assigns forever all the messuage land and plantation whereon he the said David Murphy now lives situate lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid and on both sides of the little Beaver dam Swamp and bounded as follows viz one tract or parcil Begining at a Black jack formerly Matthey Johnstons corner on the west side of the swamp and runs thence south 116 poles to a pine thence Et 140 poles to a pine thence No 116 poles to a pine and black jack and thence west to the begining containing by estimation one hundred acres of Land an other piece & adjoining the above Begining at a maple at the mouth of Pegs marsh thence up the Branch the general course of the same along a line formerly Moores No 25 wt 250 poles to a stake on the main Road to a line formerly Timothy Murphys thence with that line along the Road so 49 wt 69 poles to a stake on aline of the above discribed tract thence with that line wt 32 poles to a maple at the Run of the mill Branch thence down the Run thence down the Run of said Branch as it meanders to the Begining containing one hundred acres be the same more or less the other and last Joining the last piece above and begining at a stake at the Run of Pegs Branch and Runs along the main Road so 50 wt 68 poles to a stake on the south side of the main Road on a line of the first described tract thence that line North 106 poles to a small Branch thence up said branch No 50 Et 34 poles to a stake thence so 52 Et 40 poles to the Run of Pegs Branch thence down the various courses of the said Run to the begining containing by estimation thirty two acres of land be the same more or less making in the whold two hundred and thirty two acres of land to have & to hold the aforesaid bargained land and premises with all and singular the advantages priviledges improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said John Bryan his Heirs Exrs admnrs and assigns forever and the said David Murphy doth hereby covenant and agree to warrant & forever to defend the aforesaid bargained land and premises with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said John Bryan his Heirs Exrs Admrs or assigns from and against him the said David Murphy his heirs Exrs Admrs or assigns as also from and against the lawfull claim or claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever In witness whereof he the said David Murphy hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written signed sealed & delivered in the presence of David Murphy William Byrd Duncan Chesnut State of North Carolina Duplin County Court of pleas & Quarter Sessions October term 1839 the Execution of the within deed is duly proved in open Court by the oath of William Byrd one of the subscribing witnesses thereto & is ordered to be Registered Copy N Routledge Rgr Test James Dickson Clk
