(Transcribed by Joan S DUnn) Deed Book E Page 197, 198, & 199 David Jones To John Allen Deed 60 acres This Indenture made and concluded this fifty of Day of January Anno Domino one thousand seven Hundred and ninety one. Between David Jones of the County of New hanover in the state of North Carolina of the one part and John Allen Carpenter of the Town of Wilmington and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said David Jones for and in consideration of the sum of sixty pounds current money of the state aforesaid to him in Hand paid at and before the Ensealing and Delivery of these present hereof hath granted bargained and sold And by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell and Deliver unto the said John Allen a certain Tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Duplin on both sides of the Publick Road, by Rockfish Bridge. Begining at a cypress and water oak, the north side of Rockfish Creek, said to be Sampsons old corner, and runing with an old line, called Samsons Line, No. 25 Degrees Wt. 80 poles to a pine at a pond said to be a corner of Hickory Hill Land; thence Et. 120 poles to a pine between two ponds nigh the Bridge thence So. 40 poles to a stake thence Et. 90 poles to a Kickory and white oak thence So. 32 poles to a cypress on the Creek bank about fifty yards below the mouth of Little Rockfish, thence up the creek by the meanders of the same to the Begining containing sixty acres Land which will more fully appear by Reference being had to a Patent bearing Date the twenty fourth of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty six (No. 195) signed Richard Casewell &cc. To Have and to Hold the said premises the said sixty acres of Land in fee simple, unto the John Allen his heirs or assigns forever, together with all Houses orchards, gardens, waters, and water courses, mines, minerals, wood and underwood, and all and every the appurtainances, whatever-also all Rents, profits, issues thereof with a good Lawfull, Indefeaseable, Right and Title, of in and to the premises, confirming an uninterrupted possessin thereof unto the said John Allen, his Heirs or assigns, forever to the only proper use and behooge of him or them--And the said David Jones, against, himself, his heirs Excrs. or admrs. and against the Lawfull claim or claims of any and every person or persons whatever, the said Tract or parcel of Land, & appurtainances, with a peaceable Inheritance and possession doth Defend and Doth absolutely warrant and confirm the same, unto the said John Allen his heirs or assigns forever. In Witness whereof the said David Jones hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the Day and year first above written signed sealed and Delivered In the presence of us David Jones junior James Darby William Jones State of No. Carolina Duplin County April Term 1791 Then was the within Deed proved in open Court by the oath of William Jones and ordered to be Registered.
