David Greer To Stephen Miller
Deed for 2 pieces of lands
This indenture made the 28th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and eighty six, & in the tenth year of the Independence of this State,
Between David Greer of the one part and Stephen Miller of the other part, both of the
State of North Carolina & County of Duplin, cooper. Wtinesseth, that the said David
Greer for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred pounds good and lawfull money
of said State to him in hand paid before the sealing & delivering of these presents by
the said David Greer, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge & himself therewith
fully satisfied contented & paid & of every part & parcel thereof, doth acquit &
discharge Stephen Miller his heirs executors & administrators forever, by these presents
he the said David Greer hath given granted bargained sold conveyed confirmed assigned
& set over, and by these presents for himself his heirs executors & administrators doth
fully freely & absolutely give grant bargain sell convey confirm assign & set over unto
the said Stephen Miller his heirs & assigns forever, all that piece or parcel of land &
plantation situate lying & being in the County aforesaid on the South side of Goshen
Swamp. Begining at a Lightwood Stake by a pond formerly Anthony Miller's corner & runs
thence SO. 40 Et. 128 pole to a hickory Anthony Miller's other corner, thence joining &
along George Miller's line No. 50 Et. 200 pole to the dividing line between the said
David Greer & George Miller, thence the said dividing a was formerly ladi off for the
said David Greer by Edward Cooley No. 40 WT. 128 pole to Chamberse's line, thence along
Chamberse's line So. 50 Wt. 200 poles to the begining & containing one hundred & sixty
acres of land be the same more or less, being the contents of a deed of conveyance made
by the said Edcward Cooley to the said David Greer for the said piece or parcel of land
with the premises thereunto belonging & appertaining & also one other peice or parcel of
land situate lying & being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the south side of Goshen
swamp & joining the above piece or parcel of land, which is bounded as follows, to wit.
Begining at a Litewood Stake the corner of the above mentioned tract & runs along the
line of the same So. 40 Et. 128 pole to a hickory, the other corner of said tract thence
along the line So. 30 Wt. 200 poles to a Lightwood Stump, thence No. 55 Wt. 76 pole to a
fallen pine on the patent line, thence No. 20 Et. to the begining & containing by
estimation eighty acres be the same more or less, being part of a patent of two hundred
and sixty acres of land formerly granted to Anthony & George Miller, reference being had
may more fully appear. To have and to hold the said two pieces of parcels of land to him
the said Stephen Miller his heirs and assigns forever, together with all houses buildings
improvements, whatsoever nature or kind & every other benefit & previledge & advantages
thereon or thereunto him the said Stephen Miller his heirs & assigns & the revertion &
revertions, remainder & remainders rents issues & profits thereof, in as full and ample
manner as he the said David Greer by his deed or deeds for the same could enjoy the same,
and further the said David Greer for himself his heirs executors & administrators do hereby
covenant & agree to & with the said Stephen Miller his heirs executors & administrators to
keep harmless & indemnified the said Stephen Miller his heirs executors & administrators
in the quiet & peaceble possession of the said hereby granted & bargained two pieces of
land & premises from and against him the said David Greer his heirs & assigns & from &
against all and every other person or persons whatsoever laying any lawfull claim right
title interest property or demand of in and to the said hereby granted lands & premises or
of in and to any part or parcel thereof, free and clear of that & freely & clearly
discharged of and from all and all manner of incumbrance whatsoever, except the yearly
taxes that may become due thereon to the State at any time hereafter, from the date hereof.
In witness whereof the said David Greer hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year
first above written.
