David Cannon To William Ward
Deed for 105 acres lands
State of No. Carolina Duplin County. This indenture made this sexteenth day of January
in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty six, and in the tenth year of
American Independence, between David Cannon of the one part and William Ward of the other part,
both of the County and State aforesaid. Witnesseth that the said David Cannon for and in
consideration of the sum of forty pounds specie well and truly paid by the said William Ward,
the receipt whereof he the said David Cannon doth hereby acknowledge and himself therewith fully
satisfied contented and paid, and of every part and parcel thereof doth acquit and discharge
the said William Ward his heirs executors and administrators forever, he the said David Cannon
hath given granted bargained sold conveyed confirmed assigned and set over & by these presents
for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth fully freely and absolutely give grant
bargain sell convey confirm and set over unto the said William Ward, a certain tract or parcel
of land situate lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid on the west side of Bear
Swamp, being the back part of a survey of 320 acres which he the said David Cannon purchased at
public sale, being late the property of Henry Eustace McCulloch Esq. which said back part
contains 105 acres buted & bounded as follows. Begining at a small white oak the corner tree
of said David Cannon's land and runs thence So. 20 Wt. 198 pole to a small white oak and black
jack on John Stuckey's line, thence along his line No. 60 Wt. 166 poles to a small pine at
Stuckey's corner, thence along Samuel Ward's line No. 65 Et. 240 poles to the begining.
To have and to hold the said one hundred and five acres, and all and every part and parcel
thereof, with all and every the emoluments and appertenances thereunto belonging or in any wise
appertaining to him the said William Ward his heirs and assigns forever, and the said David
Cannon for himself his heirs executors and administrators doth hereby covenant promise and agree
to & with the said William Ward his heirs and assigns to warrent & secure & forever defend the
said William Ward his heirs and assigns in the peacieable and quiet possesion of all and
singular the said land and premises hereby bargained & sold & every part and parcel thereof,
from and against him the said David Cannon his heirs executors administrators & assigns and
from and against claiming any right title or interest of in and to the same or any part or
parcel thereof. In witness of whereof the said David Cannon hath hereunto set his hand and
affixed his seal the day and year first above written.
