Bill of Sale for Harry
State of No. Carolina
Duplin County
Whereas by virtue of a Writ of Fieri Faceras issued from the Clerks office of the said County
of Duplin against the goods and chattels, Lands and Tenements of Theophilus Williams, James Morris, John Stuckey
and Samuel Ward bearing date the October Term 1791 and Returnable to January Term 1792 for the sum of Sixteen
hundred and fifty Eight pounds Eleven Shillings and a half penny, for damages which said James Kenan and John
Hill administrators of William Kenan Deceased received against them and also the sum of Eight pounds Eleven
shillings and ten pence for Cost and Charges in said Suit. I have levied upon and Sold at publick Vandue
according to Law a Certain negroe fellow named Harry of the Estate of John Stuckey, to David Wright for the
sum of one hundred and twenty pounds Lawfull money of No. Carolina, he the said David Wright being the last
and highest bidder which said negroe fellow Harry, I as Sheriff of Duplin County aforesaid in virtue of the
Writ aforesaid do acknowledge to have sold to the said David Wright for the sum of one hundred and twenty
pounds the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge And I do hereby as far as my said office of Sheriff of
Duplin County aforesaid, And the said writ of fiery Faceras will enable me to do. Warrant and Defend the
sale of the said Negroe fellow Harry, now supposed about sixteen years of age of the Estate of John Stuckey
aforesaid to him the said David Wright his heirs or assigns for ever from and against me as Sheriff aforesaid
and against the Lawfull Claim of the said John Stuckey, his heirs Executors administrators. In witness whereof
I have hereunto my hand and seal as Sheriff theis 12th day of January Anno Domini 1792.
