(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 508, & 509 Cullen Connerly To James Wright Deed for 10 acres lands This indenture made the thirty first day of October in the eleventh year of the American Independence & in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty six Between Cullen Connerly of the County of Duplin & State of No. Carolina of the one part & James Wright before the sealing & delivering of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledged & himself therewith to be fully satisfied contented & paid & of every part and parcel thereof doth acquit & discharge the said James Wright his heirs executors & administrators by these presents he the said Cullen Connerly hath given granted bargained sold and conveyed to the said James Wright & by these presents doth fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell and convey unto the said James Wright all that piece or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Duplin & State of No. Carolina on the west side of Bear Swamp joining the lands said James Wright bought of John Ward & said Connerly own land. Beginig at a red oak on Connerly's line & runs with the same Et. 54 poles to a black jack his corner on Ward's line, thence with his line No. 68 Et. 40 poles to a small white oak sapling by the path, thence along a line of marked trees to a pine & thence 18 poles to the begining, containing by estimation ten acres be it more or less, together with all houses improvements benefits advantages thereon or thereunto in any wise belonging or appertaining. To have and to hold to him the said James Wright his heirs and assigns forever, the said then acres of land and premises, with the appurtenances thereon or thereunto belonging in as full and ample manner as he the said Cullen Connerly by his patent or grant for the same could or might enjoy & that free & clear off and from all manner of incumbrances whatsoever except the taxes thereon hereafter becoming due and payable to the State & for the confirmation & sure making the title of the said ten acres of land and appertenances to the said James Wright his heirs & assigns forever, the said Cullen Connerly. In witness whereof hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & date first above written. Cullen Connerly Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us W. Dickson Daniel Glisson January Term 1788. Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of Daniel Glisson & ordered to be registered. Test W. Dickson, C. C.
