(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 92, 93 & 94 Clifton Bowen To John Blanton Deed for 100 acres lands State of North Carolina, Duplin County. This indenture made the second day of October one thousand seven hundred and eighty three and in the eighth year of our Independance, between Clifton Bowen of the foresaid County and State planter of the one part and John Blanton planter of the other part Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds in hand paid by the said John Blanton in proclamation money, the receipt whereof the said Clifton Bowen doth ereby acknowledge and therewith to be fully contented satisfied and paid hath granted bargained and sold transfered and set over, and do by these presents fully freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell transfer and convey a certain tract o piece of land on one hundred acres unto him the aforesaid John Blanton his heirs and assigns situate lying and being in the State and County aforesaid on the west side of the No. East River and on the No. side of the Dockter Creek. Begining at a pine on his line of another survey, thence No. 90 pole to a stake, thence Wt. 178 poles to a pine, thence So. 90 poles to a water oak and Bay in the samp of Dockters Creek, thence to the begining. To have and to hold the aforesaid bargained premises with the buildings improvements ways woods water hereditaments and appertenances therunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining unto him the said John Blanton his heirs and assigns in fee simple and that free from him the said Clifton Bowen his heirs executors and administrators or assigns claimin or to claim any right title or interest from or under him and from the right and lawfull title of any person or persons whatever, and that said John Blanton his heirs and assigns shall from hence forth peacebly possess occupy and enjoy the aforesaid bargained premises with the appertunances free and from all incumbrances of any kind whatsoever (except the rents that may become due on the same) and the said Clifton Bowen his heirs his executors and administrators do further covenant promise and agree to & with the said John Blanton his heirs and assigns that at the reasonable request cost and charges of him the said John Blanton his heirs and assigns or their attorney learned in the law or eighteen of them that he the said Clifton Bowen his heirs executors administrators and assigns shall and will at any time hereafter make do or execute any other deed or conveyance to more ampelly secure the aforesaid bargained premises. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written. Clifton Bowen Signed sealed and delivered in presence of us Elijah Bowen Danel. Alderman State of No. Carolina, Duplin County, October Court 1784. Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of Elijah Bowen and ordered to be registered. Test W. Dickson, C. C.
