Charles Merit one hundred and fifty acres of land in Duplin County on the East side of
Stewarts Creek. Begining at a pine Arthur Mathis's third corner. Thence as his line Wt.
200 poles to a pine in a pond his corner. Thence the same course continued 100 poles
to a pine by the juniper supposed to be at or near Henry Hollingsworths line. Thence
North 56 poles to a pine on his own line. Then as the same South 85 East 184 poles
to a stake. Thence as his other line North 5 East 150 poles to a stake. Thence as
Shepherds line South 85 Et. 100 poles to a pine. Thence South to a branch & down
the branch to a maple Peter Gillstraps corner. Thence to the begining.

South 85 Et. 198 poles to a pine eighteen poles beyond his corner. Thence as John Baptist
Shepherds line No. five degrees East 60 poles to a pine. Thence as his other line West 124
poles to a pine. Thence as his other line South 75 Wt. 86 poles to a pine. Thence as his
other line South 55 Wt. 70 poles to an ashe tree at the run of Stewarts creek. Thence
South 20 Wt. 80 poles to a black jack supposed to be on Hollingsworths line. Thence
South 75 Et. 36 poles to a red oak & hickory on his own line Henry Hollingsworths corner.
Thence as his own line to the begining.
