Charles Miller To Mary Miller
Deed for Sundry articles
To all to whom this present writing shall come I, Charles Miller of Duplin County in the State
of North Carolina send greeting. Know ye that I the said Charles Miller as well for and in
consideration of the natural love & affection which I have and bear unto my beloved daughter
Mary Miller for divers other good causes and consideration me hereunto moving, have given
granted and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely give grant & confirm unto the
said Mary Miller, one negro girl named Dinah about ten years old, and one feather bed and
furniture, one lining wheel one large wheel, one side saddle & one pott, one skillet six ear
tenplates two bowles & three tumblers. To have and to hold to the aforesaid Mary Miller her
heirs executors administrators & assigns to her and their own proper use & behoofe forever,
thereof & therewith to do use and dispose of as her & their will and pleasure without any
manner of challenge claim or demand of me the Charles Miller or of any person or persons for
me, in my name by any cause means consent or personsment & further know ye that I the said
Charles Miller have put the said Mary Miller in full possession of the above named slave Dinah
& feather bed and furniture lining wheel one large wheel one side saddle & one pott one skillet
six earthen plates two bowls & three tunblers by the delivery unto her at the ensealing hereof.
The above slave & other articles in name of the whole. In witness whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and affixed my seal the seventh day of June Anno. Domini. 1785.

Then was the within deed proved in open Court by the oath of Saml. Houston & ordered
to be registered.
