This Indenture made this 15 of January A. D. one thousand eight hundred and thirty
nine witness that I benajah Carrell of the State of North Carolina and County of Duplin
hath for and inconsideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty three dollars and fifty
cents to me paid or secured hath bargained sold and forever set over to Thomas McGee
Sr. of the same place a tract or parcel of Land in Duplin County aforesaid on the So sides
of Maxwell Swamp beginning at a gume at the mouth of James Branch on the run of
Maxwell Swamp thence up with the run about No 25 Et 40 poles to a gume thence No
50 Wt 14 poles to a stake thence No 25 wt 148 poles to a stake on the run of Armstrong
branch thence up with said run nearly No 60 Wt 86 poles to the mouth of the mill branch
thence up the said branch nearly So 60 Wt 37 poles to a gum thence So 2 Est 184 poles
to a small gum on the run of James branch thence down with said to the beginning
containing one hundred and forty one acres be the same more or less I the said Benegah
Carrell do by these present warrant and defend forever the above mentioned land and
premises with all the appertance thereto belonging to him the aforesaid Thomas McGee
Sr. his heirs and assigns forever free a cleare from all incumberances whatsoever against
myself my heirs and assigns forever also against the claimes of all persons whatsoever in
witness whereof I have set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date above written.
