(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 1 A Page 237, 238, & 239 Baker Bourden To William Taylor Deed for 500 acres lands To all to whom these presents shall come greeting. Know ye that I Baker Bourden of the County of New Hanover and State of North Carolina planter, for an in consideration of twelve pounds specie to me in hand paid before the ensealing and delivery of these presents well and truly paid by William Taylor of Duplin County and State aforesaid planter the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied and contented and thereof & of every part and parcel thereof do acquit and discharge the said William Taylof his heirs executors and administrators forever by these presents, have given granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do freely fully and absolutely give grant bargain sell alien and enfeoffe convey and confirm unto him the said William Taylor his heirs and assigns forever, on message or tract of land lying in Duplin County and State aforsaid, and on the No. Side of Goshen Swamp and on the head of Bear Marsh Branch. Begining at three pines on John Whitehead's line and siad Taylor's corner and runs with his line west 200 pole to a bay in the Huckleberry pond on Weston's line, thence with his line north 22 Et. 270 poles to a pine in the head of Bear Marsh branch, thence Wt. 87 pole to a stake, thence with Burrel Branche's line No. 22 Wt. 180 pole to a small pine Jesse Barfield's corner, thence Et. 244 poles to a stake on Thomas Taylor's line, thence with his line So. 280 poles to a pine by a pond Taylor's corner, thence with his other line Et. twenty three poles to a stake, thence So. 160 poles to a pine on John Whitehead's line, thence Wt. twenty poles to a pine, thence to the begining, containing by estimation five hundred acres. To have and to hold the said bargained tract of land with all the appurtenances previledges commodities there to belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said William Taylor his heirs and assigns forever to him and their only proper use benefit and behoofe forever, and I the said Baker Bourden for me my heirs executors and administrators, do covenant promise and grant to and with the said William Taylor, his heirs & assigns that before the ensealing hereof I am the true and lawfull owner of the above bargained premises and am lawfullyl secured and possessed of the same in fee simple, and have in myself good right, and lawfull authority to sell and convey the same in manner as above said and that the said Wiliam Taylor his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time & at all times forever hereafter, by virtue of these presents lawfully and peacebly have hold use possess and enjoy the said demised and bargained premises with the appurtenances free and clearly and freely and clearly exonerated requited and discharged of and from all manner of incumbrances whatsoever, furthermore I the said Baker Bourden for myself my heirs executors administrators do exonerate promise and grant and engage the above demised premises to him the said William Taylor his heirs and assigns against, the clame or demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to warrent secure and defend, and that I the said Baker Bourden my heirs and assigns administrators eigther or any of them shall and will at any time hereafter at the reasonable request of the sai William Taylor his heirs and assigns make do execute or cause and suffer to be made & done at the proper cost and charges in the law of said Baker Bourden his heirs ets., such other deed or deeds conveyance or conveyances as the said William Taylor his heirs and assigns or their council learned in the law shall advise or devise for the more better and effectual making unto the said William Taylor his heirs or assigns a perfect sure lawfull indoubtable right & title to and in the said bargained and granted premises in fee simple. In witness whereof I the said Baker Bourden hereunto have set my hand and seal this seventh day of November Anno Domini one thousand seven hunderd and eighty four. Baker Bourden Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of us Samuel Bowden James Standley State of North Carolina Duplin County January Court 1786.
