Arthur Stokes two hundred acres of land in Duplin County west side the North East a place
called Hell Swamp. Begining at a pine Major Crooms corner. Thence as his line South 24
Et. 127 poles to a pine. thence South 60 Wt. 94 poles Geo. Mallards corner. Thence as
his line So. 37 Et. 52 poles to a pine. Thence as his other line to his corner and past in all
264 poles making a course of South 20 Wt. thence North 70 Wt. 110 poles to a pine.
Thence North 5 Wt. 24 poles to a pine Geo. Mallards corner. Thence as his line No. 55 Wt.
40 poles to a water oak in Horse branch Arthur Stokes's corner. Thence as his line No. 70
Wt. 124 poles to a pine his corner. Thence as his other line North 40 Wt. 56 to a gum in a
pond his own and James Gillespies corner. Thence as Gillespies line North 65 Et. 120 poles
to a pine. Thence Gillespies other line crossing flatt swamp North 50 Et. 300 poles to a holly
in Hill swamp. Thence to the begining.
