(Transcribed by Joan S Dunn) Deed Book 12 Page 148, & 149 A O Grady To W H Houston Deed 60 acres State of North Carolina Duplin County Know all men by these presents that I Alexander Grady have this day by these presents bargained & sold unto William H Houston of the same place a tract of land lying in the County aforesaid and situated on the East side of the North East adjoining the lands of William H Houston and James Williams and Bounded as follows (Viz) Begining at a black jack William H Houston and James Williams Corner and runs South 50 East 50 poles to a pine near the Duck Pond Twitteys old corner thence with James Williams line North 65 East 80 poles to a stake thence North 48 west with William H Houston line to the run of the meery branch thence down the run of said Branch as it meanders to William H Houston line thence with Line South 10 east to the begining supposed by sixty acres be there the same more or less for the sum of one hundred Dollars to me in hand paid the recipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and for which consideration I the said A O Grady do here for my self my executors & administrators forever warrent and defend unto him the said William H Houston his heirs and assigns the lawful wright of the above described land premises together with all warters woods mines minerls and every other appurtenance there to belonging from all former grants bargains sails dowers & every other incumbernce of whatever kind don at Duplin March the 3rd 1838 A O Grady Present L H Kornegay State of North Carolina Duplin County Court of Pleas & Wuarter Sessions January Term 1840 The Execution of the with in deed is duly acknowledge in open court by Alex o Grady & is ordered to be registered Test James Dickson Clk Copy N Routledge Regr by E M Routledge
