Alexander Wilson To John Wilson
Gifts for goods
To all people to whom these presents shall come I Alexander Wilson of the County of
Duplin in the State of No. Carolina send greeting know ye that I the said Alexander Wilson
for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have and bear unto my
beloved son John Wilson of the County aforesaid and for Diverse other good causes and
considerations me thereunto moving have given granted and by these presents do give and
grant unto my said son John Wilson all and singular the goods chattles and moneys which
are due to me in RIght of my late wife Mary Ann the Daughter of John Charles Slocumb (deceased)
and mother to my said Son John Wilson which goods, chattles and moneys are remaining in
the hands and possession of Thomas Hooks esquire, administrator to the said John Charles
Slocumb Deceased, which good, chattles and moneys are as follows (to wit) the sum of thirty
six pounds two shillngs current money and the Interest thereon since the time the said
Thomas Hooks received it into his possession, which money are now due on Demand. Also the
fourth part of a Negroe woman named Jude and of all hir Increase and offspring which she
now has and may hereafter have at the time of the death of Susanah Hooks my said Late wifes
Mother who has a RIght to the said negroe woman Jude and all her offspring and Increase
during her life. I therefore do by these presents for and in consideration of the causes
aforementioned, give and grant unto my said son John Wilson, all my Interest property,
claim and Demand whatsoever of and in the said moneys and off and in and to the fourth part
of the negroe woman Jude and her increase and offspring in the hands and possession of the
said Thomas Hooks as aforementioned which now or hereafter may be born of her or any of her
increase, according to the meaning of the Law in such cases, and also all other the goods,
chattles and moneys which were or may or ought of Right to be the property of the said Mary
Ann my late wife, as any part of her Deceased Fathers Estate. To have hold and enjoy all
and singular the goods, chattles, moneys and Estate aforesaid unto the said John Wilson his
heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns, to the only proper use and behoofe of the said
John Wilson, his heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns forever; and I the said Alexander
Wilson, all and singular the aforesaid goods Chattles and premises to the said John Wilson, his
Executors, administrators and assigns, against all persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant
and forever Defend by these presents. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my and seal the
Eight day of May Anno Domini 1786.
