Adam Runchey To John Cox
Deed for 100 acres lands
This indenture made the tenth day of August in the year of our Lord Christ, one thousand
seven hundred and eighty five, between Adam Runchey of the State of North Carolina & County of
Duplin (weaver) of the one part and John Cox of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth,
that the said Adam Runchey for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds current money of
the State of North Carolina to him in hand paid by John Cox aforesaid, before the ensealing and
delivery of these presents, the receipt, whereof he the said Adam Runchey doth hereby acknowledge
and himself to be therewith fully satisfied contented & paid, hath by these presents given
granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed conveyed & confirmed and by these presents doth fully
freely & absolutely give grant bargain sell & convey to John Cox aforesaid one certain tract of
percel of land sittuate lying and being in the County of Duplin aforesaid ona branch of Maxwell
(called Elder). Begining at a water oak in Elder Swamp, thence up the swamp with George Powell's
line No. 200 poles, thence Et. 90 poles, thence So.160 poles to his own line, thence as the same
Wt. 48 poles to a pine and black jack his corner, thence as his other line So. 42 poles to his
corner, thence as his other line No. 62 Wt. 20 poles to a white oak, thence as his other line
So. 48 Wt. to the begining, containing in the whole one hundred acres, be the same more or less,
which said tract of land was granted to Adam Runchey aforesaid paten bearing date the tenth day
of November Anno Domini 1784. To have and to hold the said land and premises & every part and
parcel thereof with all and every the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said John Cox his
heirs & assigns forever, free and clear of all manner of right, title claim and demands of all
and all manner of persons, to the only proper use & behoofe of him the said John Cox his heirs
and assigns forever, & the said Adam Runchey for himself and his heirs doth covenant promise
and agree to warrent and defend forever the above mentioned premises & every part thereof to
the said John Cox his heirs and assigns against, all and all manner of persons whatsoever. In
witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand and fixed his seal the day and year first above
written.
