Abraham Kornegay To William Whitefield
Deed for 200 acres lands
This indenture made this seventeenth day of July in the year of our Lord Christ one
thouseand seven hundred and eighty five between Abraham Kornegay of the County of Jones and
State of North Carolina of the one part, and William Whitefield, Senr. or the County of Wayne
and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Abraham Kornegay for and
inconsideration of the sum of forty pounds specie to him in hand at and before the sealing and
delivery of these presents by the said William Whitefield the receipt whereof he doth hereby
acknowledge himself to be paid & fully satisfied and thereof do exonerate acquit & discharge
the said William Whitfield of and from the same & every part & parcel thereof have granted
bargained & sold aliened enfeoffed relessed & confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain
& sell alien enfeoffe release and confirm unto the said William Whitfield his heirs & assigns
forever, two certain tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Duplin on the North side
of North East swamp, to wit. one tract containing one hundred acres. Begining at a maple &
runs thence South 22 West 204 poles to a pine, thence South 87 Et. 148 poles to a white oak,
thence South 22 East 88 poles to a live oak, thence up the several courses of the run to the
first station as by pattent granted to George Kornegay the 13th October 1749, the above tract
contains one hundred acres. Begining at a large pine Kornegay's corner, runing thence along
his line South 77 Et. 50 chains & 50 links to a black gum by the run of the swamp, thence No.
61 Et. 18 chains to a stooping poplar, thence No. 12 chains to a stake, thence So. 79 Wt. 80
chains to the first station as by pattent granted to George Kornegay bearing date the 27th day
of September 1756, the above said two tract containing in the whole two hundred acres. To have
and to hold the above said two hundred acres of land above granted, and every part and parcel
thereof and all the appurtenances previledges & sommodities to the same belonging or in any
wise appertaining togeather with all the estate right title interest claim and demand whatsoever
of the said Abraham Kornegay to the said William Whitfield his heirs and assigns forever, to
the only proper use & behoof of the said William Whitfield his heirs and assigns forever, and
the said Abraham Kornegay for himself and his heirs doth covenant promise grant and agree to
and with the said William Whitfield his heirs, executors administrators and assigns that he is
and stands seized of a good and lawfull estate in fee simple off in and to the above mentioned
premises & of in and to every part and parcel thereof, and that the said William Whitfield his
heirs and assigns from time to time & at all times here after by force and virtue of these
presents, lawfully peacebly and quietly enter into have hold use occupy & enjoy the said
bargained premises and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances free and clear
freely and clearly acquited exonerated & discharged of and from all & all manner of former or
other gifts grants bargains sales leases wills entails jointures dowers judgements executions
incumbrances & entents & the said Abrh. Kornegay for himself and his heirs doth covenant grant
& agree to and with the said William Whitfield his executors & administrators & assigns that
he the said Abraham Kornegay the said premises and every part & parcel thereof will forever
warrent and defend the same against the right title claim & demant of all and every person or
persons, whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Abraham Kornegay have hereunto set his hand
and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.
