Abraham Glisson To David Cannon
Deed for 200 acres lands
This indenture made the seventh day of December in the year of our Lord Christ one
thousand seven hundred & eighty five, between Abraham Glisson of the State of No. Carolina
& County of Duplin of the one part, and David Cannon of the same place of the other part.
Witnesseth, that the said Abraham Glisson for divers good causes and considerations him
thereunto moving, but more especially for the valuable consideration of the sum of forty
pounds good and lawfull money of the State aforesaid to him in hand well and truly paid by
David Cannon aforesaid, the rect. whereof do hereby acknowledge, hath by these presents given
granted bargained sold assigned and set over to the said David Cannon his heirs & assigns
forever, one certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in Duplin aforesaid on
the east side of the No. East Branch of Cape Fear River opposite the mouth of Rockfish Creek
including a survey formerly made for Joab Herrington. Begining at a black jack on the River
Bank Herrington's upper corner, thence No. 65 Et. 60 pole to two pines his corner, thence So.
25 Et. 180 pole to a pine his other corner, thence the same course continued 60 pole to a stake,
thence So. 65 Wt. 180 poles to a stake by the 60 pole below Herrington's corner, thence the
same course continued to the river, and up the river to the first station, containd by paten
two hundred acres be the same more or less, the contains of a paten granted to Thomas Cummings
the twenty seventh day of July Anno Domini 1774. To have and to hold the said bargained land
and premises with all the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise pertaining to him
the said David Cannon his heirs or assigns forever and the Abraham Glisson the aforesaid land
and premises to him the said David Cannon his heirs and assigns, shall and will warrant and
forever defend against the said Abraham Glisson his heirs and assigns as also from and against
the just & lawfull clame or clames of every other person or persons whatsoever who may hereafter
lay any just & lawfull clame to the same. In witness whereof the said Abrahan Glisson hath
hereunto set his hand and seal the date first above written.
