Aaron Hodgeson To Byrd Lanier
Deed for 100 acres lands
This indenture made this 13th day of Jany. in one thousand
seven hundred & eighty seven. Between Aaron Hodgeson of South Carolina
planter of the one part & Byrd Lanier of the other part of Duplin County
& Province of No. Carolina send greeting. Know ye that I the said Aron
Hodgerson for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds specie to me
in hand paid before the ensealing & delivering hereof unto Byrd Lanier of
Duplin County and province of No. Carolina have b argained sold and conveyed
enfeoffed & assigned set over unto Byrd Lanier a certain tract of parcel of
land contining one hundred acres lying and being in the County of Duplin in
our Province of No. Carolina on a branch of Cypress Creek including a place
where Charles Goff now lives. Begining at a white oak by the side of a small
branch in or near Francis Brice's line, runing So. 80 Et. 127 poles to three
small pine, thence So. 10 Wt. 127 poles to two small pines, thence No. 80
Wt. 127 poles to a pine, thence a direct line to the begining, the said land
was patened by Joseph Hodeson in 1769. To have and to hold the said land
and premises with all its improvements to him the said Byrd Lanier his heirs
and assigns forever, & that the said Aaron Hodgeson at the ensealing &
delivering of these presents hath a good righty and lawfull authority to
bargain sell the said land in manner as above said to the said Byrd Lanier his
heirs & assigns forever, the said Aaron Hutchinson for himself his heirs executors
adminirs. doth further promise & warrant that the said land and premises is
free and clear from the lawfull claim challing dowery or demand of any person
or persons whatever & the same will warrant secure and defend unto the said
Byrd Lanier his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal the date above mentioned.
