Thaddeus Jones, 2nd Lieutenant
2nd Co. C, 2nd Regiment NC State Troops

Born in Duplin County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting
in Wayne County at age 26, June 17, 1861, for the war.  Mustered in as 
Private.  Appointed Sergeant, March-April 1863.  Wounded at Chancellorsville,
Virginia, May 3, 1863.  Appointed 2nd Lieutenant to rank from October 1, 1863.  
Presented or accounted for on company muster rolls until reported on May 1-
August 31, 1864, muster roll as "absent wounded July 18, 1864."  Admitted to
hospital at Charlottesville, Virginia, July 25, 1864, with a gunshot wound of 
the right arm and transferred to Mount Olive, NC., to await furlough on
August 3, 1864.  Company muster roll for September-October, 1864, states that 
he was "absent wounded since October 19, 1864."  Admitte to hospital at Lynchburg,
Virginia, in October, 1864, with a gunshot wound of the right hand.  Admitted
to hospital at Richmond, Virginia, February 24, 1865, and furloughed for 30 days
on March 21, 1865.
