James F. Baker, Sergeant
2nd Co. A, 36th Regt. N. C. T. (2nd Regt. N. C. Art.)

Resided in Duplin County where he enlisted at age 23,
November 4, 1861 for the war.  Mustered in as Private
and appointed Corporal January-February 1862.
Promoted to Sergeant July-August 1862.  Present or
accounted for through August 1864.  Captured at Fort
Fisher January 15, 1865, and confined at Point Lookout
Md., until released after taking Oath of Allegiance June
24, 1865.
