Ben Rochelle was the son of Benjamin Rochelle and Susannah James of New Hanover Co., b. abt. 1823-d.10 June 1892 in Lenoir Co., N.C. He is buried with a CSA marker at Maplewood Cemetery in Kinston, N.C.

1865-April 13, prisoner of war,at Point Lookout,MD.Date of arrival at City Point Va.-captured at Appomatox-April 3,1865. Released June 17,1865- Place of residence-Duplin Co.,N.C.,Complexion:Dark,Hair:Dark,Eyes:Brown,Height:6FT. 1/4 inches tall.
