John Grady II was born Oct. 1, 1818, died Oct 19, 1898, son of William III and
Charlotte Grady.
Married January 25, 1853, Beston, Wayne Co., N.C. to Celia Uzzell [who] was
born Aug. 23, 1830, died Sept. 26, 1884, Albertson, N.C. They are buried
beside their house off Bill Sutton R., on Paul Grady Lane.

The John Grady Cemetery is located on the Bill Sutton Rd., on Paul Grady Lane,
beside the house they lived in.
Individual biographical text for Celia Uzzell
Celia Uzzell’s ancestries were, her father and mother Joshua & Winnifred Taylor
Uzzell, grand father was Major Ussell Sr. 1775-1841 and Rebecca Kelpatrick Dunn
1777-1874. (Major is not a Military title but is a surname deriving from de la Major,
a French Surname) Elisha Uzzell Sr. 1736-1825 and Dorcas Stanley. Thomas
Uzzell II “Nature’s Beauty” in 1706 - 1784 and Catherine. Thomas Uzzell Sr.
“French Tom” c. 1680 - 1750 and Sarah Artimere. This Thomas fled with his
parents, Mr. & Mrs. Davis Usilie, either through Holland or the Friesian Islands
to England where they stayed for years. One of the Uzzells had become
Anglicized and emigrated to America. They came to the tid[e]water section of
Virginia. The Uzzells were originally Fr[e]nch Huguenots. The name Uzzell is
also found spelled Uzel, Uzell, Uzzel, and sometimes as Ezell.
