 Note: Here is the transcribed will of Mary Powell - widow of Brittain Powell, Revolutionary War soldier, and my GGG Grandmother. As far as I know, her maiden name is unknown.

Will of Mary Powell

 Item 1 I give and bequeath unto my Son in Law JAMES BLAND the following bonds which I hold against him viz: one note for Twenty two Dollars dated the 24th of December 1847. One bond for Thirty three Dollars dated the 19th of April 1845. One bond for One Hundred Dollars dated 24th April 1846.

 Item 2 I give and bequeath to my Grandson ISAAC POWELL the following bonds which I hold against him viz: One note for Forth Six 62/100 Dollars dated the 24th December 1842. One bond for Forty Three Dollars dated 26th January 1845. One bond for One Hundred Dollars dated 24th April 1846.

 Item 3 I give and bequeath to each of my children, Elisha Powell, Isaac Powell, Amelia Johnson and Jacob Powell One Dollar.

 Item 4th I will to myself a decent burial.

 Item 5 I will all other of my perishable property be sold and out of the proceeds my legacies, just debts and funeral expenses be paid.

Sessions April Term 1847

 Then was this paper writing propounded for probate by WM A WARD as the last will and testament of MARY POWELL and it being proven to the satisfaction of the court by the oath of CHARLES PAGE that the said MARY POWELL in his ??judgement?? and of the other ??????? ??????? by ELIZABETH PAGE and MARY POWELL duly executed the same and that they the said witnesses in her presence and at her request duly attested same and that the said MARY POWELL was of sound and disposing mind and memory, it is ????????? by the court that the said paper writing is her last will and testament and that the same is sufficient in to pass her real and personal estate & the same is admitted to probate and is ordered to be recorded.
