JAMES HOLLINGSWORTH, Private, N. C. Militia

James Hollingsworth, was a soldier in the North Carolina Militia, served at the Battle of Moore’s Creek Bridge, under Capt. Wm. Dickson and Col. James Keanan. For 20 days of service he received 2 pounds in N. C. Army Account, and the following vouchers.
#182 M for 14/5/6 pounds
#309 M for 3/5/7 pounds
#540 M for 12/16/8 pounds
#668 C (as a substitute for another) for 1/6/4 pounds
#983 M for 2/9/6 pounds
#136 M for 6/17/4 pounds.
Also listed in Vol. I, Bk. 2, is voucher #983 dated 8 Mar 1783 for principal due on interest of 2/3/8 pounds.
In Vol. VI, Bk. 23, page 107 voucher #84 to him while living in Duplin county with principal of 13/10/6 still due about 1784.

Soldier was born to Henry Hollingsworth and Mary Murray
James Hollingsworth was married to Elizabeth “Betsey” Merritt.
