John T. CRUMPTON and Mary ALDERMAN named their first child Rachel and their fourth daughter Rebecca. Their first son was named Daniel, which was Mary's father's name; their second son was named Thomas. While these were all certainly common names at the time, the conjunction of all of them and the order in which they were used are points in favor of considering Thomas and Rachel CRUMPTON as John T.'s parents.

I've been searching for 25 years for the parents of Theophilus Nichols, born 16 Jan 1808, possibly Duplin County, died 11 Feb 1881 Bulloch County, GA
.Theophilus was born out of wedlock, and family lore says his mother was a Nichols, his father a Mann. His mother died either in childbirth or shortly after his birth. He may have been apprenticed at a young age to a carpenter, as he was a master carpenter. The story is that he was reared by maternal grandparents and left home at age 12 to go to Burke County, GA, where some uncles lived. By the 1830s he was in Bulloch County, GA, where on 18 Feb 1838 he married Rebecca Crumpton. Rebecca, daughter of John T. Crumpton and Mary Alderman, was born in Duplin County, which is what makes me wonder if Theophilus came from Duplin as well.

Delila(h) died or left Duplin sometime after 1810; believe she was wife of William, above, but have no proof except that she occupied William's lands after his death. Any info in Delila appreciated.
PLEASE NOTE: this Delila is not daughter of James WEST born ca 1725, died ca 1794.
Samuel, born before 1753, possibly in Craven, died before 1811. Who was his wife? What was his relationship to William named above his name?
James, who was born ca 1785 in either Sampson or Duplin, died in Duplin about 1853; who was James' second wife? Given name was Sarah who died about 1850.
PLEASE NOTE; per YDNA tests the folks of this lineage were not blood kin to the James WEST, Willis WEST, et al, lineage.

My research includes John (B.?) WILKINS (b. Duplin before 1701) and his Duplin-born direct descendents John (b. 1727, m. Mary), William (b. 1750s, possibly m. Nancy HANNAH or SUTTON?), James (b. 1780s, m. Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" JARVIS). I want to find the earliest John's parents and other ancestors. I can share info on this line after they moved to Kentucky circa 1800.
