Searching for information on the following families that lived in Duplin County around 1870 . CROW, WARD, KING, WRIGHT, MCIVER, KORNEGAY (MCKEEVOR or MCKEEVER) (KORNEGA or KORNEGEY) It's very likely that they could have also lived in Sampson and Wayne counties as they were all related, but we know for sure that they lived in Duplin in 1870. While we will post the same queries in other counties, any information from Duplin historians would be helpful. We are direct descendents of these families and are interested in the origins of the names as well as who these people were. Thanks for your help.

I have been searching for the father of Enoch SIMPSON (my ggggrandfather) of Duplin Co. for 20 years. I believe it was Peter but no proof. If anyone has any information, please contact me. Enoch was in the 1790 census and was married to Sophia ? .He bought 200 Acres of land from Abraham Newkirk on 28 Sept. 1793 (Deed book D-F-T-U page 215). Listed as selling same ( I believe again) land to Lott Batts (Deed Book pg. 395 & 396) 14 Oct 1807. At that time they had three boys and were migrating to Georgia. Sophia, along with Enoch's brother, Asa, made it to Washington Co. Georgia area but Enoch died somewhere along the way, I gather. Where did he die? Who were his parents? I truly appreciate your help.

The brothers lost touch due to " the Indian Wars and other troubles".

The CARR brother that settled in Sampson Co. NC ,about 4 miles outsisde Clinton, was married to Sallie(or Sarah) BASS. He, _______CARR died when he was about 45 yers old. _____CARR and Sallie Bass had the following children: William-settled in Alabama Asha--died young John- settled in Maine Peggy-married Joshua Bass and lived 15 north of Clinton, NC in Sampson Co. After Sallie Cobb's death, Bengah CARR married Mary Ryals(Royal or Rials) on July 13, 1865. Mary was born in Johnson Co. NC in abt 1835. LDS ordiences were done for Bengah CARR, Sallie Cobb and Mary Ryals. Bengah CARR and Mary Ryals had the one child, a son: *Hannibal H. b. 9-16-1866 in Johnston or Sampson Co. NC, d. 6-14-1942 in Miami, FL

Bengah CARR was a house carpenter and seemed to have moved around and lived in Sampson, Johnston and Wayne counties in NC. *Hannibal CARR married Martha A. COX b. 11-27-1868 in Goldsboro, Wayne Co. ,NC Martha died 1-28-1947 in Goldsboro, NC.

My OATES are: James OATES born in Dobbs Co. NC and died 1815 in Duplin, Sampson Co. NC. He married Mary Ann WYATT of Sampson Co. NC.James's father was Joseph OATES and mother was Elizabeth WYATT. Elizabeth's parents were John WYATT and Rachel CALLOWAY. I'm a little confused as to which of Josph's sons my line decends from and am trying to muddle my way through. I know for a fact that Stephen OATES( I think James is his father) died in N.C. in 1835. He was on his way to Alabama with his family. His wife was Elizabeth SHIPP. She went on to Alabama and raised her family. My line is from this family. The confusion comes from all these OATES having the same names each generation and seem to be marrying cousins or members of the same family. I have found wills and pedigreeds showing the family tree but keep getting the feeling that a generation has been skipped somewhere in the tree.
