Anthony and James RITCHIE found in Duplin/Sampson in 1760s on deed records. James and Anthony are getting land grants in Williamsburg S.C. in 1792. James sells his land and also Anthony's in 1823 and goes to Alabama. Need to connect all Ritchies in N. C. Who is the original ancestor?

Joshua BLANTON (born abt 1760), married first Mary ALDERMAN and second Keziah ALDERMAN and raised two families in Duplin/Sampson County, North Carolina. We are trying to compile a file of all his descendants. Some of the children stayed in NC, and some moved to SC, GA, and FL and perhaps other places. Interested in sharing information with anyone researching this line. We have fairly complete records of some lines and almost no information on others.

Searching for information on the following families that lived in Duplin County around 1870. CROW, WARD, KING, WRIGHT, MCIVER, KORNEGAY (McKeevor or McKeever) (Kornega or Kornegey) It is very likely that they could have also lived in Sampson and Wayne Counties as they were all related, but we know for sure that they lived in Duplin in 1870. While we will post the same queries in other counties, any information from Duplin historians would be helpful. We are direct descendants of these families and are interested in the origins of the names as well as who these people were. Thanks for your help,

My GG Grandfather was John W. WILLIAMS Born November 05,1805 in South Carolina I do not have a death date on him. He married Elvira BROCK on November 26, 1829. Elvira was born March 17, 1808 in Alabama, I do not have a death date on her either. They had 5 children William L. CALVIN(adopted), Nancy A, Francis Marion, Elizabeth A., and Josiah Williams. Josiah is my Great Grandfather. I show that John W.'s Father was John Williams born in 1776 in Duplin County, N. C. and died in 1839. I do not have a spouce for John. It shows he had 5 children. John W., Andrew Elton, Jane, Ira Shine, and Frederick R. Williams. I show John Williams' Father to be Frederick Williams born 1751 in Duplin County, N. C., and died in 1821 in Bullock County, Georgia. His wife was Arrabicca GOFF 1762 and died in 1851. They had 8 children John, David, James M., Owen, William, Fredrick, Williams(baby), and Stephen Williams. The last one that I have is Frederick's father, David Williams born in 1727 and no death date. He was married to Ezekial MATTHIS born in 1732 and died in 1758. They had 2 children Frederick, and Garret Williams. I show that Garret was born in 1755 in Bertie County, N. C., but show no death date on him. I hope there is link in there somewhere. I do have a little more information on some of the other children, if you think it will help you let me know and I will send it to you.

a#BROWNBROWNa#KINGKING posted by H. Don Brown on Wednesday, February 11, 1998

I'm looking for information on my grandfather, Horace Brown who is the brother of Webb Brown, both deceased. My father Harold Don BROWN was born March 3, 1920, and died December 22, 1990. I was not raised by my father and therefore do not have any ties to the remaining family, if any. The only information that I have is that Webb was born in Bowden, NC, and the family lived there and around NewHanover. Horace's only son was my father, Harold Don BROWN. I was told a long time ago that the family came from Scotland to the Dublin/NewHanover area. My father lived with his uncle Webb because his father could not afford to raise him?? Also, I remember a KING being mentioned as a possible relative. Any clues would be very well appreciated.

Interested in any information on James SUMMERLIN and Michl SUMMERLIN who appear in the Duplin County 1810 Census. I am attempting to link my ancestor Glisson SUMMERLIN (b. NC 1805, d. AL 1881) to the NC SUMMERLINs and these two are the only likely candidates with male children under 10 yrs of age in 1810. Incidentally I notice a large GLISSON (GLYSON) family in the 1790 and 1810 census. Maybe Glisson SUMMERLIN's namesake is among them.

William L. KING and his wife Nancy (JOHNSON) KING lived in Bibb County and were married there on June 9, 1838. Census records indicate that both William and Nancy were born in South Carolina. In 1883 Nancy was a pensioner from the war of 1812, certificate # 25,532. William King was enlisted in Capt. William J. Minstor's company of Georgia Militia. I believe he received land in Bibb County Alabama from a land lottery due to his service in the war of 1812. I am looking for the ancestors of William L. KING. Thanks

My great grandfather Ralph George RACKLEY was the Registrar of Deeds for Duplin County NC in the 1900's. When he died Jan 13 1938 he was employed as the Registrar of Deeds and as a farmer. I have a copy of his death certificate. He had pre-signed a number of death certificates - and one of them was used to record his death. When someone noticied this they added in Mrs. in front of his name in an effort to not have a death certificate signed by the deceased. This copy is one of my most treasured items. Question - Can anyone tell me anything of interest about him? Since he held this office perhaps there was some type of article or documentation about him. Anything is greatly appreciated.
Ralph George RACKLEY born Jan 07 1886 Sampson County NC married Jun 16 1912 to Elsie Jemima KENNEDY (in Sampson County NC) died Jan 13 1938 in Duplin County NC Thanks in advance .
