Researching earliest known ancestor: Benjamin ROGERS, b.abt. 1735, d. abt. August 1778, m. Sarah HIGHSMITH, daughter of Daniel HIGHSMITH & Ann BECK.Children: !) Reuben, b. 30 Dec. 1761 2) Annis 3) Winnifred 4) Jesse. Benjamin ROGERS appears on Berrtie County, NC tax list in 1759 at bottom of list. A brother, William ROGERS, is listed with him several years later. Benjamin died intestate, but estate papers list wife Sarah and 4 children listed above. His brother-in-law, John IRWIN (married to Mary IRWIN, an older sister of Sarah) is executor of Benjamin's estate. After Benjamin died in 1778, widow Sarah, and children moved to Duplin Co., NC. It is believed, but not proven, that Sarah later moved to Adam's Run, SC., near Edisto River, and that youngest son, Jesse moved with her. Jesse is supposed to have then moved to Warren or Barren Co., Ky and married Sally ? Rubin ROGERS, my ancesor, lived in Duplin and Sampson County. One of his children, William Cooper ROGERS, my great grandfather, moved to Moore County, NC in 1850. Looking for ancestors of Benjamin ROGERS. Family legend says he was born about 1735 in England and came with brothers William and Tracy to NC, but I suspect he came through Virginia. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

a#GARRISONGARRISONm#WILLIAMSWILLIAMS posted by K Scott on Thursday, September 18, 1997

Was rummaging around in my collection of bits and pieces, and came upon a mysterious list of relatives who I can't seem to connect to anyone. I'm hoping someone "out there" can help fill in the gaps. The scrap of paper I found reads: "Jane WILLIAMS (b. 1759) married Jeddiah (Jedediah?) GARRISON (1755-1829). They lived in Duplin (Dublin?) Co. prior to 1780, during 1790's in Greenville Dist. SC, in early 1800 moved into Banks County." Then it seems, on the same topic, to go on: 1830's Gwinnet Co and Lawrenceville, GA." If anyone can shed some light on this mystery, would be most appreciative. Thanks, KJB BC Canada
