My earliest known SANDERSON is John SANDERSON, born 5 Sep 1822, died: ?, married Susan Johnson on 8 Aug 1849 in Duplin Co. Bondsman for the wedding was Lewis SANDERSON. John was bondsman for Lewis' wedding to Ann J. KENNEDAY on 9 Jan 1850. Jahn and Susan SANDERSON have the following children in 1860/1870: Mary A., Margaret, Martha A,., John W., Elizabeth, and Julia. John was a CSA veteran who served in the 66th NC Inf. He is buried outside Magnolia in a samll family cemetery with his daughter and her husband, Simon Peter FREDERICK.

I noted from the Duplin Co. history page, "The Scotch-Irish arrived in 1736 from Ulster, Northern Ireland with Henry McCulloch a wealthy London merchant...", "...Scottish Highlanders who came from the upper Cape Fear region, were among the earliest settlers to the area." Do you have information as to who arrived with McCulloch in 1736? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I am researching the following names in the Sampson Co - Duplin Co areas of NC: FAIRCLOTH, VINSON, SESSOMS, and HARRELL. Mossette Faircloth m. Macy Eunice Harrell. I do not have dates for Mossette, but believed he died in the late 1950's. Macy was born March 23, 1898 in Duplin Co and died February 19, 1993 in Sampson Co. Also Oscar Allen Vinson and Dennie Sessoms. I have no dates for either of them, but believed they were married around 1910. I know that Mossette is buried in a family plot, but the land surrounding it have been sold outside of the family, near Roseboro, Sampson Co.
