Wallace - Mr. Willie E. "Bill" Sholar, age 75, of 212 Elm Street in 
Wallace, died early Thursday morning, January 23, 1997, at New Hanover 
Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 1997, 
from the First Baptist Church of Wallace, conducted by Rev. Dennis N. 
Bazemore and Rev. James L. White III. Burial will follow in Rockfish 
Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Fussell Sholar; two daughters, Mrs. 
Debbie Waltz and husband, Tom, of Wilmington, and Ms. Christy Sholar of 
Florence, SC; one son, Terry Sholar and wife, Debbie, of Roanoke Rapids; 
two grandchildren, Scott Sholar and Katie Sholar; two sisters, Mrs. Annie 
Helen Rivenbark and husband, Johnny, and Mrs. Kathleen Blanton and 
husband, Bruce, both of Wallace; and one brother, R.W. (Toots) Sholar and 
wife, Hilda, of Wallace. He was predeceased by a brother, David E. Sholar.
A native of Duplin County, Mr. Sholar was the son of the late Perry and 
Lillie Blanton Sholar and was a veteran of World War II, having served 
in the U.S. Army. He was a car salesman with Jim Russ Chevrolet in 
Wallace, a retired Fireman and was a member and Deacon of the First 
Baptist Church of Wallace.
Casketbearers will be Lloyd Boone, Monroe Marshburn, Harry S. Carlton, 
Jim Russ Jr., Willie Biggs and Roy Steven Cavenaugh Jr. Honorary bearers 
will be the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Wallace, the Men's Bible 
Class of First Baptist Church of Wallace, and members of the Wallace Fire 
Department.
The family will receive at the Padgett Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. 
Friday and will be at their residence, 212 Elm Street in Wallace other 
times.
The family suggest in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the First 
Baptist Church of Wallace or a charity of one's choice.
