Obituary of Walter Earl Keen Sr ~ 1984

Wallace - Walter Earl Keen Sr., 78, of 401 Friendly Drive in Wallace, 
died unexpectedly at his residence Monday afternoon.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wallace Presbyterian 
Church, conducted by Dr. Clarence Lingle and the Rev. Bobby Mowery. 
Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lottie Brown Keen; one son, Walter Earl 
Keen Jr. of Greensboro; one brother, Eugene Keen of Johnson City, Tenn., 
two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A beloved husband and father, Mr. Keen was born in New Hanover County 
and was the son of the late William George Thomas and Maggie Craig Keen. 
He was retired from the Seaboard Coastline Railroad in Jacksonville, 
Fla., and he and his wife had made their home at Friendly Acres in 
Wallace for the past several years. He was a member of the Willarlea 
Ruritan Club, where he served as treasurer. He was a member of Wallace 
Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon for several years. He 
was Man At Large and was member and treasurer of the Men's Bible Class.
Casketbearers will be Billy Wayne Savage, Harry Carlton, N.H. Carter, 
Tom Davidson, Joe McGlohon and Mark Murray. Honorary bearers will be Dr. 
W.W. Sutton, Jack P. Wells, Mrs. Mary Emily Browder, Delmar Minchew, 
Reece Lefler, Horace Lefler, Dudley Robbins Sr., Dudley Robbins Jr., 
Wilfred (Red) Robbins, Marty Robbins, Jimbo Robbins, the session and the 
deacons of Wallace Presbyterian Church, the Men's Bible Class of Wallace 
Presbyterian Church and the Willarlea Ruritan Club.
The family will receive at the Edgerton Funeral Home from 7:30 to 8:30 
p.m. Tuesday and will be at their residence, 401 Friendly Dr., Wallace, 
at other times.
The body will remain at the funeral home until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, when 
it will be taken to the church to lie in state one hour before the service.
