Obituary of Viva Lanier ~ 1954

Mrs. Viva Lanier, 55, died at James Walker Hospital in Wilmington Wednesday
afternoon. Funeral services were held from the residence at Chinquapin 
Friday at 3 p.m. in charge of the Rev. Mrs. Ellis of Wilson. 
Burial followed in the Jeff Lanier cemetery. 
Survivors are her husband, Jodie Lanier; four sons, Tom and Tim Aikens of 
Nofolk, Va., Jessie Franklin of Wallace, J. W. of the home; four daughters,
Mrs. Melton Jarman of Richlands, Mrs. Lawrence Williams of Beulaville, 
Mrs. George Hatcher of Chinquapin and Janie of the home; one brother, 
Phillip Lanier of Warsaw; a sister, Mrs. M. L. Brady of San Diego, Calif.; 
nine grandchildren.
