Velma Louise Cottle Lanier, 76, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Kinston 
Rehabilitation, formally of 404 Williams St. 
Ms. Lanier was preceded in death by her son, Elton Lanier. 
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002 at 
Westview Cemetery with Allen Ham officiating. 
Survivors include two sons, Melvin Lanier and wife, Evelyn of Kinston and 
Dean Lanier and wife, Sharon of Titusville, Fla.; six grandchildren and 
10 great-grandchildren. 
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. 
Arrangements by Howard-Carter & Stroud Funeral Home.
