Obituary of Sallie Cavenaugh McClung ~ 1986

Wallace - Mrs. Sallie Cavenaugh McClung, 78, of Rt. 3, Wallace, died
Wednesday afternoon in Duplin General Hospital, Kenansville, after a
brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Northeast
Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Clyde Shelton,
Rev. Billy Toler and Rev. Elbert Hollowell.
Burial will follow in Cavenaugh Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Cavenaugh of Wallace
and Mrs. Lois Maready of Chinquapin; two sons, William McClung Jr. of
Hampstead and Phillip McClung of Wallace; three brothers, W.J. Cavenaugh,
Paul Cavenaugh and Waitus Cavenaugh, all of Wallace; 13 grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, Mrs. McClung was the daughter of the late
Joseph and Patsy Mallard Cavenaugh. She owned and operated Cavenaugh's
grocery for many years and was a member of the Northeast Pentecostal
Freewill Baptist Church.
Casketbearers will be Duncan Cavenaugh, Norwood Cavenaugh, Billy
Cavenaugh, Gene Cavenaugh, Kenneth Cavenaugh and Floyd Kelley.
The family received at the Edgerton Funeral Home from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Thursday, and will be at the residence of Mr. Phillip McClung, Rt. 3,
Wallace other times.
The body will remain at the funeral home until 12:30 p.m. Friday when it
will be taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior to the service.
