Funeral services for Roland Vance Thigpen, 72, who died Saturday, were
held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Edgerton Funeral Chapel by the Rev. K. D.
Brown and the Rev. L. E. Whitlock.
Burial, Riverview Memorial Park.
Surviving: his wife, Mrs. Gladys Savage Thigpen; four daughters, Mrs.
Hallie Smith of Wallace, Mrs. Hubert Boone of Magnolia, Mrs. Lewis
Midgett of Sneads Ferry and Mrs. Joe Griffin of Burgaw; three sons, Roy
of the home, Johnnie of Burgaw and Leon Thigpen of Salisbury; three
sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Boehl and Mrs. Walter Ramsey of Kinston, and Mrs.
Andrew Lee Scurry of Magnolia; four brothers, Carlton, Coy and Paul of
Kinston and Wayne Thigpen of Dallas, Tex; 16 grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren.
