Funeral for Raymond Stone, 60, of 204 Westdale Dr., will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday at Sechrest Chapel by the Rev. William J. Campbell.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
He died Tuesday morning at his home. He had been seriously ill since
Aug. 9.
He was born Jan. 4, 1923, in High Point, a son of Oscar and Maggie
Southerland Stone. He lived in High Point most of his life and owned and
operated Stone's Furniture Co. He was a medic with the 82nd Airborne
Division of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars,
Post 619, Disabled American Veterans and past member of the Elks Lodge.
He was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ. On Nov. 20,
1948, he married the former Pauline Lloyd, who survives of the home.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Janet Burgess
of 538 Forrest St., Mrs. Cecil (Rhonda) Griffin of 1630 Bolingbroke Rd.;
one son, Raymond Lloyd Stone of Kernersville; one stepsister, Mrs. Maggie
Pearl Crawley of Wallace; four half-sisters, Mrs. Wendell (Annie Laura)
Evans of Magnolia, Mrs. Kenneth (Virgie) Crawford of Jacksonville, Mrs.
Durwood (Lucy) Parker of Rose Hill, Mrs. Frank (Faye) Wishack of Ohio;
five stepbrothers, Oscar, Edwin, Cam, Allen and Mance Rivenbark, all of
Wallace; three half-brothers, Ronald and Eugene Rivenbark and Pearlie
Rivenbark Jr., all of Wallace; and two grandchildren.
The body is at Sechrest Funeral Home where the family will be from 7-9
tonight.
