Duplin County, NC - Obituary of Mattie Virginia Whaley--2006
Mattie Virginia Whaley, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday, June 22, 2006 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 77 years old.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Quattlebaum and Rev. Dorman Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor Assembly of God Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm. Until 8:00 pm on Friday.
Mrs. Whaley was born November 1, 1928, in Duplin County, North Carolina and lived the early years of her life there. In 1964 she moved to Dothan. She has been a minister for the past 55 years and at the time of her death she was a member and pastor of Tumbleton Assembly of God Church.
Mrs. Whaley is predeceased by her husband, Prentice Whaley Sr., a son Mackie Whaley, and a grandson, Christopher Whaley.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Jackson and Rhonda Whaley, Prentice Jr. and Bettie Whaley, Zackery and Dianne Whaley, all of Dothan; Sammy and Jan Whaley, Columbus, Georgia; a daughter and son-in-law Lovey and Jerry Floyd, Dothan; a Brother and sister-in-law, Moses and Lora Dunn, Dothan; Several nieces and nephews also survive.
