Obituary of Jonathan Marion Brown Sr ~ 1983

Wallace - Jonathan Marion Brown Sr., age 70, died Thursday night in New 
Hanover Memorial Hospital in Wilmington after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Edgerton Funeral 
Chapel conducted by Rev. Jack Gentry. Burial will follow in Sharon Church 
Cemetery at Chinquapin.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Coy (Marie) Carter of Wallace; five 
sons, George Brown and Jerrell Brown, both of Burgaw, Jimmy Brown of 
Johnson City, Tenn., J.M. Brown Jr. of Wallace and Robert Brown of 
Willard; two sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Lobland of Havelock and Miss Hilda 
Brown of Wallace; one brother, Raeford Brown of Wallace, 13 grandchildren 
and one great-grandchild.
A native of Duplin County, Mr. Brown was the son of the late Lucien and 
Rosa Lee Judge Brown.
He was a retired painter and was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church.
Casketbearers will be Larry Carter, George Brown Jr., Larry Brown, Clay 
Carter, Robbie Brown, Mack Parker, Eugene Parker and Dean Brown.
The family will receive at the funeral home from 7 until 8:30 p.m. 
Saturday and will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Coy Carter, Route 3, 
Wallace other times.
