Gaybrella Pinkey Wood Lanier, 80, of Chinquapin died early Monday morning
in Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lanier were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the
Sharon Baptist Church in Chinquapin by the Rev. Phillip Denton, assisted
by the Rev. David Gordon and the Rev. James Bock.
Burial followed in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Harrington, of Southport, Reba Maready
of Morehead City and Faye Kennedy of Beulaville; three sons, H. G. Lanier
of Ashland, Va., James Earl Lanier of Chinquapin and Alford Lanier of Los
Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Isabelle Sanderson of Magnolia, Susie
Holladay of Wilmington and Minnie Prescott of Sumter, S. C.; 24
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, Mrs. Lanier was the daughters of the late John
and Mary Lanier Wood and the widow of Archie Lanier. She was a member of
the Sharon Baptist Church.
Casketbearers were T. G. Huffman, Bill Brant, Raybourne Batchelor, Joe
Lanier, Ray Smith and Hayward Hatcher.
Visitation was at Edgerton Funeral Home in Wallace until 12 noon Tuesday
when the body was taken to the church to lie in state one hour before the
service.
The family met at the residence of Mrs. and Mrs. James Earl Lanier in
Chinquapin.
