Chinquapin - Ellis Bryan Hatcher, 83, died unexpectedly Saturday morning 
at Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Edgerton Funeral 
Chapel in Beulaville conducted by the Rev. Frank Sawyer. 
Burial will follow in the Tom Lanier Cemetery, Rt. 1, Chinquapin.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertie Lanier Hatcher; one daughter, Mrs. 
Rovene Stewart of Chinquapin; two sons, Earl Hatcher of Kenansville and 
Edward Hatcher of Hampton, Va.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A native of Duplin County, he was the son of the late Jeff and Sallie 
Jones Hatcher. He was a retired farmer; a veteran of World War I, serving 
in the U.S. Army; and was a member of American Legion Post 156 in Wallace 
and a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church.
Casketbearers will be Anthony Hatcher, Dana Hatcher, Raymond Hatcher, 
David R. Smith, Mac Hunter and Gordon Sloan.
