Obituary of Eli Clemeth Lanier ~ 1984

Wallace - Mr. Eli Clemeth Lanier, age 77, of Route 2, Wallace, died early 
Sunday morning in Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville after a 
lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Edgerton Funeral 
Chapel in Wallace conducted by the Rev. O. B. Taylor, the Rev. Jonah 
Swinson and the Rev. Samuel Swinson. 
Burial will follow in the Henderson Cemetery at Pin Hook.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Mae Reese Lanier; three daughters, 
Mrs. Elmer (Doris) Aycock of Leland, Mrs. Baxter (Margaret) Sanderson and 
Mrs. Jerry (Shirley) Walker both of Wallace; four sons, Carlton Lanier of 
Wallace, Shelton Lanier of Portland, Ore., Everton Lanier of Holly Ridge 
and Allen Ray Lanier of Jacksonville; four sisters, Mrs. Geneva Maready 
of Jacksonville, Mrs. Alice Batts and Mrs. Gladys Lanier both of 
Chinquapin and Mrs. Nernie Dail of Newport News, Va.; three brothers, 
Winfred Lanier and Cicero Lanier both of Beulaville and Leonard Lanier 
of Chinquapin, 25 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six step-
grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, Mr. Lanier was the son of the late Dave Hatch 
and Luda Adams Lanier.
He was a retired farmer and commercial fisherman and was a member of the 
Sneads Ferry Freewill Baptist Church.
He had made his home in the Sneads Ferry area for several years before 
returning to the Pin Hook Community to make his home.
Casketbearers will be Jimmy Lanier, Mario Canepa, Marty Sholar, Delaney 
Aycock, E.C. Lanier Jr. and Mike Walker.
The family will receive at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 
will be at their residence, Route 2, Wallace other times.
