FREMONT — Earl Wayland Knowles, 81, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at
Wilson Pines Nursing Facility.
Mr. Knowles was born March 7, 1930 in Duplin County to the late Mattie
Register Knowles and Daniel Franklin Knowles.
Mr. Knowles graduated from Rose Hill High School and served in the U.S.
Navy from 1950 to 1953. He was a driver for McClean Trucking Company in
Winston-Salem and Richmond, Va., and retired after many years with the
Wilson County School system.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Rose
Hill Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the Knowles Family Cemetery in Rose Hill.
A visitation will be held 7 to 9, Thursday night at Community Funeral Home
of Rose Hill. The Rev. Jimmie Suggs will be officiating.
Mr. Knowles is survived by a son, Forrest Knowles and wife, Andrea, of
Marrietta, Ga.; daughter, Donna King of Hampstead; grandchildren, Crystal
Conner and husband, Allen, Amber Johnston and husband, Ryan, Audrey
Knowles and Katie Beth Knowles; great-grandchild, Emma Kate Johnston;
brother, Hubert Knowles and wife, Martha, of Rose Hill; and Bessie Brooks
of Wallace; brother-in-law, John Watson of Wilson; sister-in-laws Linda
Harper and husband, Charles, of Knightdale and Frances Vick and husband,
Billy, of Wilson.
In addition to his parents Mr. Knowles was preceded in death by wife,
Margaret Watson Knowles.
Arrangements are by Community Funeral Home of Warsaw.
